Col Dale Potter, Ken Wick to run as Independents for Wallowa County Commission

WALLOWA COUNTY - The Independent Party of Oregon has nominated Lt. Col Dale Potter as it's candidate to run for Wallowa County Commission, position #1.

"Colonel Potter's distinguished military career and years of community service uniquely qualify him to lead on the Wallowa County Commission. He is exactly the kind of independent leader who should be encouraged to seek public office," said Party Chair, Linda Williams.

Colonel Potter joins local rancher and real estate broker Ken Wick as the second of two candidates nominated by the Independent Party to run for Wallowa County Commission.

"Ken Wick is a man who knows how to meet a payroll. His business experience, commonsense approach to limited government, and his deep roots in the community will serve the county well on the commission," said Party Secretary, Sal Peralta

Wick, who was nominated in June, is running for position #2.

ABOUT THE INDEPENDENT PARTY

The Independent Party was formed in response to laws enacted in 2005 to make it more difficult for non-affiliated candidates to make the ballot in Oregon. Officially recognized by the Secretary of State in January, 2007, the party is now the third largest political party in Oregon with more than 22,000 members. The Independent Party has nominated candidates for the Oregon legislature, county commissioner, and US Senate. "We expect to nominate several more candidates before the August 26 deadline," said Peralta.
